The Chef Returns

Here to show you not how to make, but what I made.
First up: GARLIC KNOTS:
 (yup, worthy of 2 pictures)
 Second up: CINNAMON ROLLS:
They are busy raising here. But MMMMMMMMM! You'll just have to believe me they were divine because we ate them right after they came out of the oven. The absolute best cinnamon rolls I have ever made in my life! For some reason, I fail to have tender ones or ones that are caramely. These ones turned out. WE ATE THEM ALL!!!

We also ate all the garlic knots too. A wonderful combination believe it or "knot"!

I also made raw brownies: MMMMMMM

Did you make anything different this week???

Someone

Someone did this and it wasn't me or my husband.
I guess someone didn't like egg cartons
Someone left a little present for me to pick up.
Here is that someone: (He still fluffs both beds together)
Right before bed, I realized somehow he had also chewed up some foam ball of some sort from somewhere. (maybe someone threw it over the fence?) This wasn't here after he chewed up the egg carton because I took a picture of him right after (look above).

He found it later. Anybody know where he got this white foam ball from?

Why oh Why does my dog get in these random weird chewing moods?
Hope you have less to clean up today.

Randomness on Libby

Second strawberry harvest! They are so sweet! (but tiny!)
And do you see what is in my shower???????
Yup! The silicone is dry in this one, and my husband informed me we're only waiting on the extra bathroom doors and the master ones are ours, so we moved in.

(Only to have to move back out again because the seal is leaking and we need to wait for it to dry to re-silicone it.)
ALMOST READY! And we only took one shower each in there!

Oh well. that's how things go around here...
See you around!

The Fence

First the fence came down:

Then the ditch was dug, and concrete poured:
Then the bricks were brought in:
Then they installed the bricks leaving an opening for the gate:

Lastly, they filled in the hole:
I now have a garden to work in. This is my area. I need to clean it up, and get it ready to garden now.
My husband is going to install some sort of fencing between the brick posts to block the dog out. Until then, the dog so far has been staying out of the garden!

Have a happy day! My fence is almost done!

Where's the Fence?

Can you figure out why these bricks are removed?
Or why there is no fence around my garden?

Did you actually think we have a wonderfully trained dog who stays out?

Nope!
We're getting a new fence!

The weeds are dying around the border:
And the burned spot is getting smaller:
Life in the backyard is becoming manageable once again! And the birds are out! Whenever we hear birds, I think we have a happy yard. Happy for the birds, Happy for us cause we can hear them!

Spring is here!
Have a lovely day!

My Garden in March

My strawberries: (and 1 lettuce reseeded by itself)

Wait! Stop! What's that?
 We've got strawberries!
 But no asparagus yet!
And we have a pepper plant regrowing after the bunnies ate it, then the birds last year, then it cooked all summer in the heat, then it froze all winter, and then it decided to live after all! And it's coming back stronger than ever! I'll have bell peppers this year!
I also started a seed pot of plain cucumber, Armenian cucumber, watermelon, butternut squash, pumpkin, cantaloupe, honeydew, heirloom yellow tomato... did I miss any?
Something started to sprout already I just wish I remember what it was! I got it all written down somewhere!
I just love how my rosemary plant looks! I must be weird because it's totally lopsided, But I love how it reminds me of all the plants along the ocean and all over California leaning one way because of the wind... I have a piece of California in my backyard even if it's just a rosemary plant!
My elephant food plant could use a MAJOR trimming so it can renew itself. And there's also a small zinnia that survived the winter...

My calla lily plant is making me pull out my hair! It's strong and happy on one side:
and yellowing and spotty and dying one by one on the other... I wonder it I should shake off all the dirt and re-pot it: I already moved it outside because it wasn't liking inside, and I took it out of the decorative pot and put it up on "stilts" to drain to see it it was drowning... It's still growing new life but dying at a faster rate...
So that is all I have growing so far. It doesn't include the 3 palm trees or the houseplants, or other trees, but you get the idea... I do have great plans to have a marvelous garden this year.

I am hoping I get it started soon!

Shower Doors!

We have had our shower doors installed!

Notice where the dog food and toys are now? They're next to me while I sleep. Yup! Out of the master shower! We've got shower doors! I'll have to find a new place for puppy's things.
Extra bathroom in all the morning sun's glory: (AAAACK! I have to keep my shower clean and organized now! Everyone can see it!)
Mater bathroom in the splendor of the morning rays of sunshine:
I guess the doors we bought have to be ordered, so we're only borrowing these ones till they come in- in about a week or so.

For now, when we shower, we put the old curtain rod inside the doors and take a shower like normal except there's less space then usual. Will be fun when we have the new doors! (Although I've been playing with the idea of keeping the shower curtain up forever so I never have to clean the doors! I'll have to buy a luxury squeegee or something to scrape the walls down after each shower!

Life is becoming complete around here!
What's left to finish in this house...

I'm Sick of Sick

My puppy has an ear infection. I was faithfully cleaning his ears out twice a day and then I missed one day and it came back full force (within 1 day!) So I'm back to twice a day until Monday. He's so funny because he hides and pretends he doesn't hear you when you call for him to come. So I usually have to find him, and clean his ears where he is.
I don't like it when my puppy is sick and feel bad I missed one day because now we both have even longer to fight over his ears getting cleaned. He always manages to shake all the solution out of his ears onto me somewhere.

My hands and puppy smell like ear cleaning solution... I hope it ends soon...

FIRE!!!!!!

My husband started a little fire in our new fire pit a few nights ago to burn all the branches we have left over from our tree we cut down.

When I got home, it was my job to add more because he said he was done. So I added more and more. A piece of what I added fell out while it was still burning and lit the grass underneath on fire. I ran to fill my watering can with water as I watched it spread. I was able to put it out and decided I was done too.

The heat of fire for a couple hours must have dried out the green grass underneath and it caught fire very easily because that's all that burned.
Doesn't it look so pretty now?
 You don't even notice it!

I learned my lesson.

A New Fan of Fans

I've never liked fans much before. But I never realized life was good when we had them because the master bedroom fan broke and we had no fan during last summer.
We bought 3 fans and my husband installed them.
Family Room

Living Room

Master Bedroom (notice we got the kind that has the upper light?) Perfect for at night- it doesn't shine directly in your eyes.

We are fanned and ready for summer! All but the living room fan we just replaced. We had nothing in the living room before. My husband is so happy excited about his new toy, it's on every time I come home. He lives in the living room now!

The lighting in our house is more relaxing and softer and you don't feel you have to close your eyes anymore when you look certain directions!

Have a Happy Day!

Frozen Tundra

Last night it froze. The grass had frost, the roofs had frost, the air was cold, and it even smelled cold. (or maybe my buggers just froze....)

Either way, it was frozen looking when I looked out.

It looked like our grass was getting old and silvered:
The dog went out anyways to fertilize a patch and froze his toes. I havn't figured out how to get him to fertilize evenly so that explains the taller green poofs at random in the yard.

Not much has been going on here lately except we got new fans put in the house. It has been raining and windy and blowy and cloudy and cold and I've had an off and on headache/migraine for a week and a half. I'll be happy when winter is over for the year.

See you later!

A Cat.

When I cleaned the office last night, It felt strange inside. I wasn't sure why. I finished cleaning one bathroom, went into the warehouse, and turned on the lights. Walking towards the other bathroom, a cat ran out and hid. I thought oh! poor kitty! It was left in the warehouse since it entered probably on Friday and this was Sunday night. I opened 3 doors one at a time because I was scared that some monster would come in, and tried to chase it out.

Kitty kitty was going to stay. I chased it many times, each time having to find it, then scare it out towards the door, and each time, it would run and hid inside again. I guess it couldn't see outside was finally open or something. I gave up for my safety and decided kitty kitty could wait until the guys got there early in the morning and opened the doors.

But that toilet! Poor kitty kitty would climb in the bowl, and drink. There was no other source of water. It had black kitty paw prints all over it.  Kitty kitty was dusty dirty from living in the warehouse all weekend. It looked like every time kitty took a drink, it would slip a little into the water washing it's paws a bit. I cleaned it with dish soap and flushed it twice so I wouldn't contaminate it's water source, and left the lid up again. I figured kitty would survive a few more hours until the guys arrived because I left at 1:30 AM this morning. Yup, I almost forgot to clean the office!

Cruizer has decided he really loves his new bed:

That red fuzz on the bottom corner is from his bear.
He fluffs both beds together. We let him choose which one he wants to sleep on while he transitions to the new one. He's been picking his new one!

Last night, I made pizza, and glutinous rice flour pudding.
A weird meal, but good. Gotta go get my house organized!
See you later!

Rotten Luck

I knew those 2 free agave cactuses from Craigslist where too good to be true! See if you can figure it out:
 Rot.
 Shriveled up rot.
 Poor cactus!
But wait! There's life under those dead branches!
 2 pups! Yay!
But wait! there's more! Strong alive cactus, rotted hole, and what's that behind it? What???!! Another dead cactus???
Yup. It's caving under it's own rotten weight.
It's supposed to look like this one: Green.
Whew! I'm done for the day! My hands have a tiny bit of sap and a couple scratches. (That's exagerating...)
Have a happy day!
Trisha.
